Fantastic donation received from Unite union!
Pen-y-ffordd Tennis Club has received a fantastic £500 donation from the Unite Union.

The idea to approach the union came from club member Dave Hughes, who is a Unite member working for Airbus in Broughton. Dave wrote a letter to the union's committee responsible for allocating funds to worthwhile local charities with a view to boosting the fund to replace the perimeter fence, and he was subsequently invited to one of their meetings. He was joined by one of the club's management committee, which by way of a strange coincidence was another Dave Hughes! Together they explained the club's place in the community to the sizeable Unite contingent gathered for the meeting, and were successful in persuading them to make a cash award to the tune of £500.

This sum provides a useful boost to the fence replacement fund so that hopes are high that the work can be completed next year.

Pen-y-ffordd Tennis Club would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the Unite union, whose funds are gathered only from the contributions of its hard-working members, for this financial support. And all club members will be very grateful to Dave Hughes and Dave Hughes for taking the steps needed to make this happen.
