Club one of 3 finalists for Club/Centre of the year award
The strides taken by Pen-y-ffordd Tennis Club in the last couple of years have been recognised by Tennis Wales as the club has been nominated as one of three finalists in the category of Club/Centre Of The Year. The overall winner in this and the other 8 categories will be announced at an awards ceremony on January 24th 2015.
It's not currently known who nominated the club for this award, but it is assumed that we are in the running as a result of a huge uplift in membership and participation at our club - membership numbers in this membership year are over two and a half times the number in 2012!
This year's awards will take place at The Village Urban Saint David's Hotel in Ewloe, and Club Secretary Nigel Edwards and Club Coach Michael Herd will be there to represent the club, along with any other club members who would like to attend - if you fancy coming along you'd be very welcome, the evening will consist of an arrival drink, a three course meal, followed by the awards ceremony itself, and tickets can be purchased for £30 per person.
Anyone who would like to attend please get in touch via this website, and details of how to purchase tickets will be provided.
Out of the hundreds of tennis clubs and centres across Wales, to be one of just three finalists for this award gives a wonderful boost to our village tennis club. And who knows, perhaps we may yet come home with the winner's award!
UPDATE: See here for the outcome...
