Pen-y-ffordd Tennis Club's free-to-all Tennis Taster day has been hailed a success after the event took place on Saturday 4th May. The club's management committee and other club members put in a considerable amount of effort to promote and raise awareness of the event, including designing a leaflet and having 1000 copies produced, which were then distributed to schools and through letterboxes.
Tennis Taster Event a big success
It was always a risk running the event on a bank holiday weekend, but it turned out to be the start of the best bank holiday weather in years!

The event was run by the club's coach, Mike Herd, assisted by some volunteer club members, and commenced with an adult beginner's session at 10am. This was attended by several people who were keen to get started with some tennis playing - and who were also willing to be there so relatively early on a Saturday morning! This was followed up by good showings at both the adult intermediate and adult advanced sessions.

However, the morning attendances were completely surpassed by the Under 11s session in the afternoon - there were no fewer than 25 children at this session! And it was clear that the children enjoyed this opportunity to try out some tennis on a proper tennis court.

The event is now being followed up by 5 weeks of junior coaching, which is available to members for free and is also available on a pay-per-session basis.
