It had been many years since the last time Pen-y-ffordd Tennis Club held its own internal tournaments, so Sunday 27th September 2015 was an important day for the club and its members, as this event added back an important feature of club membership. And it was a very successful event, with some competitive matches played in good spirit, plenty of spectators taking advantage of the tea and cakes on offer, all under a late September sunshine to rival the best days of summer!
The organiser of the competitions, Simon Briscoe, did an excellent job in bringing it all together, right down to ensuring we had suitable trophies and certificates for winners and runners up. Whilst Sally, Deb, Helen, Karen and Kate laid on a mouth-watering array of cakes which, along with proceeds from the day's raffle (a big thank you to those who donated prizes!), raised some useful funds. The amounts raised will all go towards our ring-fenced fund for the completion of the clubhouse interior.
